Quality Assurance & Compliance Testing

A portion of the requirements to be licensed by the State of Nevada is to have a Quality Assurance Program in place to ensure accurate and quality test results. The program covers Pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical areas of the collection process.

Pre-Analytical: (Prior to testing)

  • Patient identification proper valid ID
  • Company verified and requested test
  • Chain of Custody prepared
  •  Collection materials prepared  with patience information and specimens are collected
  • Collected specimens security sealed and verified
  • Specimen prepared for transport to the laboratory
  • All samples properly stored until transported
  • Specimens transported by company selected personal to laboratory

Analytical: (Testing)

  • Specimen handling and processing
  • Monitoring equipment and reagents
  • Equipment maintenance, calibrations and Quality Controls
  • Operators compliance with policy and procedures
  • Testing performed  
  • Samples stored

Post-Analytical: (After Testing)

  • Results are reviewed 
  • Addition testing performed (back to analytical)
  • Results are verified and a report is generated
  • Report is released to requesting party
  • Interpretation provided to party when needed
  • Process completed
American Toxicology participates in the American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB)  http://www.aab-pts.org/ proficiency testing as required by State Law every quarter along with several other participants. This is a third party quality assurance test that is done along with our personal assessment testing to verify the competency of our laboratory assistants and technicians. Some of our other quality testing includes patient management observations, corrective actions, quarterly meetings, annual review of policies and procedures.
